Chongqing Welcomes International Filmmakers for Youth Film Project

On April 26, the opening ceremony of the Looking China annual youth film project was held at Southwest University in southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality, with 10 foreign filmmakers invited to capture the region’s culinary delights and scenic landscapes.

Looking China annual youth film project has been held for 6 sessions in Chongqing, with a total of 24 countries’  filmmakers visiting various districts and counties of Chongqing. They used their cameras to record the beautiful natural scenery, profound cultural heritage, and unique humanistic features of Chongqing, producing 64 short films covering 25 districts and counties including Wanzhou, Chengkou, and Shizhu.

This year marks the seventh year of the Looking China annual youth film project landing in Chongqing. 10 filmmakers from Greece and Russia will continue to visit districts and counties such as Qijiang, Dazu, Yubei, Changshou, Jiangjin, Hechuan, and Rongchang, using film to tell new stories happening in Chongqing.

Professor Dimitrios Georgios Koutsiampasakos from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, who serves as the project’s instructor, expressed in his speech the hope that more young filmmakers could delve into interesting topics through the project and contribute to cultural dialogue between the two countries.

Effimia Anagnostidou, a Greek youth representing foreign students, expressed her desire to draw inspiration from Chinese culture and to deeply experience the customs and traditions of China through this trip. She looks forward to incorporating what she sees, hears, and feels into her own work, presenting a true and colorful China to the world.
